My mother has fybromyalgia! until now i haven't understood what it was about and as other are if its a disability not seen on the outside its hard to understand what that person if going through. Both of my parents are disabled so its a part of my life. I have used my experience to influence my future, i became a CNA to help other people like my parents and enjoy it very much.
Until about a month ago i was working for one of the best nursing homes in my area, until i was diagnosed with mono. I didn't think much of it and tried to rest all the time. Unfortunately i was unable to stay in bed due to school, helping my mother who i live with and because my husband seems to not know what to do around the house. I haven't gotten better yet i've only gotten worse. I came down with the flu, bronchitis, sinus infection, and i also have a good amount of pain in my abdomen on the right and left side mostly the right lower and upper rib cage. Not only that but i hurt all the time and seem to have a few symptoms that are explained here. The weirdest for me is sudden pain that has no explanation and comes out of no where like someone hit me. I don't want to over react but i may have fibromyalgia myself but i'm not sure? I am new to gather and i have had nothing but positive experiences and i believe that i may help me. Thank you 1 |

FMS or Fibromyalgia Syndrome is commonly misunderstood and continues to be a source of controversy among medical practitioners while leaving sufferers with little resources to find treatment.
Fibromyalgia is a widespread musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder for which the cause is still unknown. It affects all fibrous tissues in the body. Most FMS patients complain of aching all over, their muscles feel like they have been pulled or overworked, accompanied by twitching and burning sensations. Although symptoms vary from person to person, muscle pain and fatigue are only some of the ailments attributed to Fibro, others include Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Chronic headaches, Temporomandibual Joint Dysfunction, Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, Memory Impairment (know as "brainfog"), numbness, morning stiffness, dry eyes and mouth, painful menstrual periods in women, chest pain, irritable bladder, skin sensitivities, swollen extremities, dizziness and impaired coordination. This group is dedicated to providing information, advice and support to anyone interested. Spreading the word about the disorder is crucial to rally the medical community into action. Physicians are divided by those who believe Fibromyalgia to be a "wastebasket diagnosis" and those who give the syndrome full credibility. Being diagnosed and properly treated is a battle in itself. This group will provide a safe haven for any patients, their friends and family, provide guidance, and work as a support system. Personal experiences, new developments in the field, advice, tips and self-help strategies are welcome. Please feel free to share any stories, ask questions and participate in all discussions. If you, or anyone you know has been afflicted by FMS, please join the group and help us become a louder voice in the advocacy of Fibro patients and their plight. Group Tags
